5 Tips to Declutter Your Mind
Is daily stress keeping you from being able to think clearly? Does your mind feel like it's constantly racing but you can't focus on anything in particular? If so, your mind may be in need of some clearing out. Mental clutter is what keeps us from being able to make clear decisions and focus, but decluttering your mind isn't as complicated as it sounds. Try these 5 tips to help get you in the habit of maintaining a clear head:
Clean up your work space/home - Cleaning up your mind can be as easy as starting with your physical surroundings. Letting stuff accumulate around your desk or at home can unconsciously draw our mind's attention away from what we're doing and instead focus on the mess. Letting go of the things you don't need can free up more space for the things that matter, both mentally and physically.
- Make some time for yourself - Allow yourself to have the time to do something that is just for you, nobody else. Maybe what you need to do is take a walk alone in the woods with just the sounds of nature. Maybe you want to try taking a guided meditation class that focuses on breath work. Whatever it is, give yourself the gift of time to focus on your own mental and physical well being.
- Write it down - Trying to focus on 10 different ideas that are flying through your head is nearly impossible. Instead, try writing down your concerns, things you needs to do, goals, etc. Get them down on paper and off your mind. Now you won't have to worry about remembering 10 different tasks ahead of you this week and you can instead focus on accomplishing them one by one.
- Let go - If it doesn't serve you, let it go. Letting go seems like such a simple step but if can often be one of the most difficult. We form emotional attachments to different thoughts and ideas but learning to let them go if they aren't serving us or if they're the source of negative feelings can help free your mind for more positive thoughts and dreams.
